Artist Bio:
Gina Renzi is a multidisciplinary artist from Virginia Beach, Virginia. She has worked as a face and body painter as well as a performative acrylic painter (on canvas) at music and art festivals, created murals for the ViBe District, designed logos, posters, and merchandise for musicians, brands, and community events. Alongside her professional projects, she is pursuing an associate’s degree in pre-art therapy, building a foundation that bridges creativity with healing and psychology.
Her work explores transformation, self-expression, and human connection through both traditional and digital mediums. She specializes in face and body painting, both small and large-scale murals, visionary paintings, and graphic design. While her face painting is largely offered to the public at various community events, her body painting is an expression of her ancestral spiritual practices that act as a conduit for sacred visions on the human body in ceremonial settings. Renzi also creates interactive art experiences, such as collaborative canvases and community painting projects, that invite participants to engage with art as a shared ritual.
Renzi draws inspiration from nature, symbolic and spiritual imagery, and the sensory power of color and movement. She is influenced by artists who blur the boundaries between art and healing while also sharing the metaphysical nature of life. Her practice reflects a commitment to making art not only visually striking but also emotionally restorative, cathartic and evocative.
Artist Statement:
Guided by my studies in art therapy, psychology, and personal spiritual experiences – my practice bridges the therapeutic and the mystical. I create and offer my art as a vehicle for remembrance, evocation, and cathartic exploration. Each painting becomes a conversation between the seen and unseen – a space where self-awareness meets creative ritual. Imagery that can be commonly observed in my works are sacred geometry, esoteric and religiously spiritual symbols, nature, abstract or folklike beings, and indigenous medicine.
My work expresses the intersection of body, spirit, and nature and are channeled as visionary and surreal art. In my acrylic paintings, layered color and symbolic composition reveal inner landscapes that speak to transformation, ancestral wisdom, and transcendence.
The works I am sharing here and with the collective community honor the ineffable experience of life, across space and time – paying homage to the sacred within and beyond as visual storytelling.
Through my creations – my art awakens reverence for the natural and spiritual world as a teacher, and for creativity as a path to healing, introspection, and unity.
